The technology you see above are a few I have grown up with. Here are some of my favorite old technologies of the past! I hope this trip back on Memory lane brings you some good memories too!

Nintendo 64:

Ah, the sweet pleasant memory of the Star Fox Canyon level where it always froze at the same spot and blew on the cartridge to pass the level. Back in my day, it was so fun just playing simple games. Back then we thought the graphics were Triple AAA to speak in modern terms.

As a VR Design Student, I find that good vintage games were not even close to what it is now. I am so glad to see the nostalgic 8-bit- 16-bit games still being produced to this day.

GameBoy Advance:

I was thrilled to find this picture on the internet! When I was a kid all my friends had a Game Boy! I so wanted one but my parents later got me the Game Boy Advance when it came out! I got the Glacier with the Pokemon Crystal version and let me tell you catching Suicune was a pain in the ass! I randomly ran into Suicune and I was kicking and screaming as I pressed the A and B buttons back and forth as if that was going to help me catch Suicune. Yeah, Suicune ran away and I never ended up seeing it ever again!

Ah, the good old days of handheld gaming devices when you have to carry serial cables and cartridges. Seeing the Nintendo OLED Switch now it blows my mind how far we came in a few decades!

Windows XP eMachine Desktop:

Oh, Crap! I think I found my beloved Windows XP Desktop my parents got me! My first computer looked just like the one above. I remember playing Pac-Man and Shining Force, Golden Axe, and of course Super Sonic for hours!

I usually play games and get bored and played outside all day. See, that was the thing. Dial-Up Internet wasn’t in my house until I was almost in Middle school. I remember the horrific beep-boo-beep… dial tone to this day.

That was the day! I remember MSN Messenger and Ask.com was the stuff back then!

Rotary Phone:

Oh, Snap! Who just went on the Delorean and traveled way back in time??? I just did! I remember when I was a baby I had this vague memory of a rotary phone it was kind of like the one pictured above. I don’t remember much about when I was a baby but for some reason, this phone is “clear as day” almost. I remember putting my little finger in the dial and watching the rotary rotate over and over it was somehow soothing to me when I was a baby.

Vinyl Record Player:

I remember seeing my parent's record player and wondering what it was the one I remember was silver but had that same type of glass cover and the turn table needle was so interesting for me when I was really young. I never knew what kind of device it was back when I was little but seeing turn tables turn into DJ awesomeness is just amazing now!

Nokia 8110:

Ah! My father's old phone! I kid you not this is the exact phone I saw in my father's old drawer when I was in elementary school. It was so cool to see the slider and the antenna! I later from out while searching for this photo that this model of Nokia was in the Matrix movies who knew? I now have the iPhone SE and it is practically more powerful than my first Windows Desktop! Truly mindblowing! But, still, I do miss having my good old flip phone in a way. Having something like this and working with our 4G and 5G might be pretty cool no wait there is a model that works with modern towers! Check out this phone in 4G here: https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/nokia-8110-4g?sku=16ARGYW1A09 blast from the past right???!!!

Tamagotchi:

Picture from Bandai Namco

I remember having one of these and never knowing what it was called. Even though it was written by the device. I tried to feed my virtual pet all the time but it was a lot of work and I later forgot to feed it once and it almost died I kind of freaked out and feed it well until the battery died~~~

Now we have Animal Crossing! But, hey Tamagotchi is still alive and well even to this day so if you want a blast from the past get one yourself and make sure to put in a really souped-up lithium battery so your device never dies.

Thanks for your time today and for walking with me in memory lane. I hope you enjoyed reminiscing about the past like I have enjoyed writing this wonderful article.
