Member-only story
Friday 9/8/2023 my I.T. Director took his last day after 29 years of working at my workplace. He finally retired. I was off work that day and was very busy and totally forgot to say my final goodbye. But, that is not where this story ends.
I came home and my mother was not happy with me. She told me that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t say my final farewell. I was tired and exhausted and to be honest, didn’t really care. I was very busy and it was my day off. After some backbreaking hard week where both of my teammates were out sick and we were short-handed as it is.
But, my mother's words “regret” and “this day will pass and never return” struck deep into my tired soul. I whined put on my sweaty clothes and hurried out the door to make it before I really regretted it.
After 15 to 20 minutes I arrived at my workplace and was relieved to see my I.T. Director's car. I rushed into the office and saw my I.T. Director. What he said to me kind of surprised me. He said, “Glad you Made it!” For once I was actually happy to be there.
I waited cause I made it at the end and people were leaving I shook his hands and told my I.T. Director my thanks.
